A Second Shot in the Dark

When forty-year-old Chris Martin decided to resume the career she had put aside to become a housewife, her husband and children balked. Against their wishes, she took a job as a journalist on the Tipping Herald. As if to confirm their fears, she became involved in a murder investigation on her first assignment and began a love affair with her slightly seedy colleague Pete Schiavo. Chris has now decided to leave her husband, Keith, and to set up house with Pete - an exercise she probably knows in her heart of hearts will be fraught with problems. Once she's gone, Keith realises what he's lost, while Pete on the other hand needs convincing that there is some effort required in a relationship. Meanwhile, a young woman's body is found in a local wood and Chris becomes involved in investigating the murder. She begins to unravel a series of baffling clues and becomes convinced that there's more - much more - than meets the eye. Pursuing her investigations, Chris herself almost becomes a victim of the murderer.
