The story of the book is set in near future in the country of Karsland where people live in a new world. There old democracy has been replaced by Comocratia, a communal state where everything belong to the country and used in commune. The country is ruled by State Committee, a group of people chosen for their abilities. Population is divided in two groups based on their IQ and they lead the life accordingly; there is no crime, not even any kind of detrimental temptations; every citizen is contented with their living. Life goes on unchanged for over seventy years, until one day the murder of a man astonished the whole society and spreads fear of the coming future. Why? When Demetra, a young attractive woman, who lives happily in her own small world in Karsland meets Marcus, self-confident and full of life bachelor, everything changed in her life once and forever. Her life becomes a continuous escape from danger, and she has to fight every day to stay alive.
