A comparative study of Homer's Iliad and Old Testament texts, using an approach based on the idea that both Homer's work and the Old Testament were influenced by the literature of the Near East. The study deals with questions of human fault and divine justice, and shows thematic relationships between central scenes of the Iliad and certain passages of the Old Testament, especially 1 Kings 22, 19-23, Psalm 82, 1 Samuel 17, and the narratives of Saul's failures.
