The story takes place in the early 1950s between two twelve-year-old friends, David Peterson and Tommy Chandler. Their friendship will be put to the test as Zeke Morrison suddenly appears to disrupt their lives. Zeke forces Tommy and David into his world where the boys learn he is not a human. Zeke transforms into a wolflike creature. Tommy and David have been brought into his world as food for his pack. The boys are not the only ones to be surprised as Zeke watches David transform also. The two friends struggle for survival and to maintain their sanity and friendship as they search for a way home.
