The Alliance fleet continues its desperate battle to make it home, under the command of Captain "Black Jack" Geary. Geary's victories have earned him both the respect - and envy - of his fellow officers... When Geary orders the fleet back to the Lakota Star System, where it was nearly destroyed by the Syndics, his officers question his sanity. But Geary believes it might just buy them enough time to prepare for their adversaries' inevitable return.
