In the Middle Ages, there lived a princess named Berthilde, goddaughter of the Queen of the Elves. The powerful Evil Spirit, jealous of the queen's dominion, transformed Berthilde, along with her faithful servants and stewards, into monstrous beasts. Unable to break the spell, the Queen of the Elves prophesied that if one day a handsome and wealthy prince came to the manor to vanquish the Evil One, the enchantment would cease, and the princess and her companions would regain their original forms.
