Chabot College’s Jazz Studies program closed out its Spring 2026 semester with a high-energy, rhythm-packed Latin jazz and salsa celebration, featuring a remarkably versatile Bay Area vocal powerhouse. Marlayna Washington: A San Francisco native and highly respected vocal coach/vocalist known for her incredible multi-genre versatility and impressive upper vocal range. Classically trained but deeply rooted in old-school funk, soul, rock, and jazz, Washington brought her commanding showpersonship and dynamic stage energy to front the Chabot ensembles, keeping the audience moving with a feel-good, infectious vibe.
