Rongphamu follows the UK’s Indigenous Rai community as they prepare for and celebrate Sakela, an annual festival connecting generations through dance, music and material culture. Blending contemporary ethnographic recordings with Eurocentric archival imagery, the film explores how tradition is remembered, adapted and embodied in the diaspora, while questioning the colonial narratives through which Rai lives have historically been represented.
