The Kuban choir "Elizavetintsy" is renowned for the fact that it comprises no professionals; instead, it consists entirely of ordinary residents of the *stanitsa*—farmers, laborers, doctors, homemakers, and shop assistants. The choir is led by Alexander and Anna Kosaty. Their mission is to train this amateur ensemble to look and sound every bit as impressive as a professional collective. The film serves as a reminder that creative endeavors fill life with joy and renewed purpose, and that personal hardships are far easier to overcome when surrounded by kindred spirits.
