“Making preparations we know we can never truly be ready for, for a farewell whose arrival we do not know.” A 96-year-old veteran grandfather hopes to live to be 100 years old. Yet after the death of his son, he speaks about his funeral arrangements for the first time, saying that he wishes to be buried beneath a banyan tree near his home. Following her father’s passing, the director—his granddaughter—also rediscovers a long-lost family videotape. In it are her grandfather, her father and mother, her younger brother, and herself. Through these images, alongside the filming of her family’s present-day life, she begins another conversation with her father, and another farewell.
