The Cellar nightclub, existed from 1959 -1973 in Texas. The Cellar originated in Fort Worth, 'Where the West begins.' The Cellar was perhaps the last vestige of Fort Worth's rowdy past. We are interested not only in the history of the club, but also in the role the club played in the lives of its employees and musicians. Identity seeking is a normal part of adolescent and young adult development, so alternative lifestyle gathering places like The Cellar are inevitable in every community. Often, music is at the forefront of each generation's so-called coming of age, and survives as an iconic stamp for each particular generation. We are also attempting to juxtapose The Cellar's environment to the fast changing social climate of the 1960's.
