During their student years, Svetlana and Vadim were going to get married, despite the fact that their relatives were against their union. The lovers' happiness was destroyed by an accident - while defending Sveta, Vadim got involved in a fight, during which one of the hooligans died. Vadim was sentenced to 8 years, and Sveta found out that she was pregnant...Vadim's cousin Mikhail, in love with Svetlana, takes care of her. He manages to convince Vadim to leave the girl so as not to ruin her life, and he proposes to Sveta. Realizing that she cannot cope alone with a baby in her arms, she agrees. Svetlana gives up love and gives all of herself to her son. But when Vadim is released and appears in her life again, Sveta realizes that her feelings for him have not faded away...
