In 1996, on the eve of Russia's adoption of a moratorium on the death penalty, a new warden, Konstantin, entered the special purpose prison. Konstantin and his colleagues ― the prison doctor, the prosecutor, and other guards ― are deeply traumatized and unhappy people, and around the dangerous and terrible period of the mid-90s. After meeting with the father of one of the victims, Konstantin realizes that it is close people who have the right to carry out punishment. Kostya, with the support of his colleagues, comes up with a new business ― outsourcing the execution of the death penalty. But it soon turns out that money and justice are incompatible. As soon as there is an opportunity to earn money, there are people who are ready to sacrifice any principles...
