In 1952, after several battles, the People's Volunteer Army (PVA) had gained the upper hand in ground combat during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. To boost their morale and secure advantages at the negotiating table, the UN forces made a final effort at Shangganling. On October 14, the UN forces launched a fierce attack on Shangganling. The PVA soldiers bravely resisted the assault, engaging in repeated struggles to hold the position. After transitioning to tunnel warfare, they continued fighting in extremely harsh conditions. In the decisive phase, the PVA launched a resolute counterattack and gradually strengthened their positions. After 43 days of intense battle, the PVA soldiers achieved victory. This campaign showcased China's national and military strength, deterring any Western countrie.
