Kwame Mbalia is an American author and publisher, best known for the bestselling Tristan Strong series, the first of which was a recipient of the 2020 Coretta Scott King Author Award and a Children's Africana Book Award Winner in Best Book for Older Readers. In 2024, he launched alongside Disney-Hyperion the publishing imprint, Freedom Fire, that focuses on middle-grade books and Black storytelling across the diaspora.
