Maschinen-Mensch

Developer 2 · 2016 – 2021 · 🎮 2 · 🇩🇪 Germany

Maschinen-Mensch is a currently defunct video games studio based in Berlin, Germany. It was founded in 2014 by the two developers Riad Djemili and Johannes Kristmann. The company's most notable output was the 2016 release Curious Expedition, which was sold more than 200,000 times. It was followed by a sequel in 2021. In 2025, Maschinen-Mensch released Mother Machine. However, revenues were insufficient to cover ongoing operations. Nevertheless, Maschinen-Mensch UG remains in operation – including the operation and support of the games. One of the founders, Riad Djemili, now focuses on his other venture Codecks - a trading card game-inspired interface that enables and simplifies project management throughout the game production process.
